William F. and Ruth Baldwin Graduate Scholarship in History

Terms of Reference

  1. The purpose of this award is to provide financial support for a student pursuing a graduate degree in British History in the Department of History.
  2. The William F. and Ruth Baldwin Graduate Scholarship in History is paid over two terms and awarded preferentially to an incoming student.
  3. The criteria for this award are:
    1. demonstrated academic excellence at the undergraduate level and, if applicable, at the graduate level
    2. full-time registration at Simon Fraser University in a graduate program in the Department of History
    3. promise of outstanding achievement at the graduate level with particular emphasis on intellectual ability, originality and ability in research.
  4. This award may be held in conjunction with other awards made by Simon Fraser University or other agencies where permitted by those agencies.
  5. Application is made on the online Grad Awards, Application and Adjudication System (GA3) and must be accompanied by:
    1. copies of all post-secondary transcripts
    2. one letter of reference from a faculty member familiar with the applicant's work
    3. a concise outline of the proposed program of studies
  6. The award will be made by the Dean of Graduate Studies on behalf of the Senate Graduate Awards Adjudication Committee.
