Marilyn Bowman Graduate Scholarship in Psychology

Terms of Reference

  1. The purpose of this award is to provide financial support for a student who has completed his/her Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology and is enrolled in the PhD Clinical Program in the Department of Psychology.
  2. The eligibility criteria for this award are:
    1. demonstrated academic excellence in the clinical MA program
    2. registration at Simon Fraser University in a graduate program in the Department of Psychology
    3. promise of outstanding achievement at the graduate level with particular emphasis on intellectual ability, originality, leadership, and ability in research
    4. where possible, preference will be given to a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant
  3. This award may be held in conjunction with other awards made by Simon Fraser University or other agencies where permitted by those agencies. The recipient should not hold a national fellowship.
  4. A student must be nominated for the award by the Chair, Department of Psychology. Application is made on the online Grad Awards, Application and Adjudication System (GA3) and must be accompanied by:
    1. a nomination letter describing the academic merits and potential of the nominee
    2. copies of all post-secondary transcripts
    3. one letter of reference from a faculty member familiar with the applicant’s work
  5. The award will be made by the Dean of Graduate Studies on behalf of the Senate Graduate Awards Adjudication Committee, on the nomination of the Department of Psychology’s Graduate Program Committee.
