Coastal Zone Canada (BC) Association Graduate Scholarship in Coastal Studies
Terms of Reference
- The purpose of this award is to provide financial support for a student affiliated with the Centre for Coastal Studies who is entering or pursuing a master’s or doctoral graduate degree program focussing on community-based approaches to coastal management, specific to issues within the province of British Columbia.
- The criteria for this award are:
- demonstrated academic excellence at the undergraduate level and, if applicable, at the graduate level
- full-time registration at Simon Fraser University in a graduate program focussing on community-based approaches to coastal management. The research must be conducted in affiliation with the Centre for Coastal Studies
- promise of outstanding achievement at the graduate level with particular emphasis on intellectual ability, originality and ability in research
- demonstrated academic excellence at the undergraduate level and, if applicable, at the graduate level
- This award may be held in conjunction with other awards made by Simon Fraser University or other agencies where permitted by those agencies.
- NOMINATIONS by departments are made on the Application for a Private Graduate Scholarship form and must be accompanied by:
- copies of all post-secondary transcripts
- one letter of reference from a faculty member familiar with the nominee’s academic merits and potential
- a copy of the nominee’s proposed outline of studies
- copies of all post-secondary transcripts
- The award recipient will be selected from the nominations received by the Director of the Centre for Coastal Studies.
- The award will be made by the Dean of Graduate Studies on behalf of the Senate Graduate Awards Adjudication Committee.
