COGECO Graduate Scholarship in Communication

Terms of Reference

  1. The purpose of this Fellowship is to provide financial support for students who are pursuing a graduate degree in the School of Communication.
  2. The COGECO Graduate Scholarship in Communication is a two-term award equal to the net income from an endowment.
  3. The criteria for this award are:
    1. demonstrated academic excellence at the undergraduate level and, if applicable, at the graduate level
    2. promise of outstanding achievement at the graduate level with particular emphasis on intellectual ability and originality
    3. registration at SFU in a graduate program in the School of Communication
  4. The award application and/or nomination is made using the online Grad Awards, Application and Adjudication System (GA3) and must include:
    1. Copies of all post-secondary transcripts
    2. A concise outline of the proposed or actual thesis research
    3. One paper selected by the student as representative of his or her work
    4. Two letters of reference from faculty members familiar with the applicant's work
  5. The completed application and all supporting documents must be received by the department of enrolment.
  6. The award will be made by the Dean of Graduate Studies, on behalf of the Senate Graduate Awards Adjudication Committee, upon the nomination of the Graduate Program Chair, School of Communication.
