Contemporary Literature Graduate Research Award

Terms of Reference

The Robin Blaser Endowment Fund will provide support for a term of research in the Contemporary Literature Collection (CLC) by a student pursuing a master’s or doctoral degree in the Department of English at Simon Fraser University. Preference will be given to a doctoral student.

  1. The purpose of this award is to provide research support for a graduate student in the Department of English undertaking research in the CLC.
  2. The Contemporary Literature Graduate Research Award is a one-term award valued at a portion of the earned income from the endowment.
  3. The criteria for this award are:
    1. full-time registration at Simon Fraser University in a graduate program in the Department of English in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences
    2. a research proposal
    3. demonstrated academic and research excellence at the post-graduate level with particular emphasis on intellectual ability, originality and ability in research
  4. This award may be held in conjunction with other awards made by Simon Fraser University or other agencies where permitted by those agencies.
  5. The student must be nominated for this award by the Chair of the Department of English. The award nomination is made using the online Grad Awards, Application and Adjudication System (GA3) and must include:
    1. a nomination letter
    2. a current, unofficial SFU transcript or a copy of the official transcript of the most recent degree program completed
    3. a concise, one-page description of the proposed or actual thesis research project
  6. The award will be made by the Dean of Graduate Studies on behalf of the Senate Graduate Awards Adjudication Committee, upon the recommendation of the Chair of the Department of English.
