DBMiner Graduate Scholarship in Computing Science

Terms of Reference

  1. The purpose of this award is to provide financial support for a student in a graduate program in School of Computing Science. When possible, preference will be to award graduate students working in the fields of database or data mining.
  2. The eligibility criteria for this award are:
    1. demonstrated academic excellence at the graduate level
    2. registration at Simon Fraser University in a graduate program in the School of Computing Science
    3. promise of outstanding achievement at the graduate level, with particular emphasis on intellectual ability, originality and ability in research
    4. where possible, preference will be given to a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant
  3. This award may be held in conjunction with other awards made by Simon Fraser University or other agencies where permitted by those agencies.
  4. Application is made on the online Grad Awards, Application and Adjudication System (GA3) and must be accompanied by:
    1. copies of all post secondary transcripts
    2. one letter of reference from a faculty member familiar with the applicant’s work
    3. a concise outline of the proposed thesis
  5. The completed application and all supporting documents must be received by the department of enrolment.
  6. The award will be made by the Dean of Graduate Studies on behalf of the Senate Graduate Awards Adjudication Committee.
