Thelma Finlayson Graduate Entrance Scholarships

Terms of Reference

  1. The purpose of the Thelma Finlayson Graduate Entrance Scholarship is to provide financial support for incoming graduate students pursuing a Master of Science degree in Master's of Pest Management program.
  2. The Thelma Finlayson Graduate Entrance Scholarships are valued at a portion of the earned income and will be awarded annually to incoming students. The criteria for this award are:
    1. demonstrated academic excellence at the undergraduate level and, if applicable, at the graduate level
    2. full-time student enrolled in a graduate program in Biological Sciences pursuing Pest Management studies
    3. promise of outstanding achievement with particular emphasis on intellectual ability, originality and ability in research
  3. This award may be held in conjunction with other awards made by Simon Fraser University or other agencies where permitted by those agencies.
  4. Application is made on the online Grad Awards, Application and Adjudication System (GA3) and must be accompanied by:
    1. a concise outline of the proposed or actual research project
    2. two letters of reference from faculty members familiar with the applicant's work
    3. copies of all post-secondary transcripts.
  5. The award will be made by the Dean of Graduate Studies on behalf of the Senate Graduate Awards Adjudication Committee, based on the recommendation of the Chair of Biological Sciences.
