Daniel Janzen Memorial Graduate Scholarship

Terms of Reference

  1. The purpose of this award is to provide financial support for a student pursuing a Master's degree in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences in either Economics or Political Science, a Master's degree in the Beedie School of Business, or Masters Degree in Public Policy. Preference, when possible, will be given to a student coming to Simon Fraser University from the University of the Fraser Valley.
  2. The Daniel Janzen Memorial Graduate Scholarship is awarded annually and will be valued at a portion of earned income on the Endowment. The Scholarship will be rotated between Economics, Political Science, the Beedie School of Business, and the Public Policy Masters Program.
  3. The criteria for this award are:
    1. demonstrated academic excellence at the undergraduate level and, if applicable, at the graduate level
    2. registration at Simon Fraser University in the Faculty of Arts Masters degree program in Economics or Political Science, in the Beedie School of Business Masters degree program, or the Public Policy Masters degree program
  4. This award may be held in conjunction with other awards made by Simon Fraser University or other agencies where permitted by those agencies.
  5. Application is made on the Application for a Private Graduate Scholarship form and must be accompanied by:
    1. copies of all post-secondary transcripts (unofficial copies are acceptable)
    2. a concise outline of the proposed program of studies
    3. one letter of reference from a faculty member familiar with the applicant’s work
  6. The completed application and all supporting documents must be received by the department of enrolment.
  7. The award will be made by the Dean of Graduate Studies on behalf of the Senate Graduate Awards Adjudication Committee.
