Law Foundation Graduate Scholarship in Restorative Justice

Terms of Reference

  1. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial support for graduate students at Simon Fraser University who are pursuing, or intend to pursue, a graduate degree in School of Criminology focusing on research conducted within the Centre for Restorative Justice.
  2. The scholarship is an annual award over two semesters. Its value is subject to the income earned from its endowment fund and will increase as the endowment grows.
  3. The criteria for this award are:
    1. registration in a graduate program in the School of Criminology at Simon Fraser University
    2. demonstrated academic excellence at the undergraduate level and, if applicable, at the graduate level
    3. indication of interest in issues related to restorative justice
    4. promise of outstanding achievement at the graduate level with particular emphasis on intellectual ability, originality and ability in research
  4. This award may be held in conjunction with other awards made by Simon Fraser University or other agencies where permitted by those agencies.
  5. Students should be nominated for this award by the Director of the Centre for Restorative Justice. The nomination must be made on the online Grad Awards, Application and Adjudication System (GA3) and must be accompanied by:
    1. a nomination letter describing the academic merits and potential of the nominee
    2. copies of all post secondary transcripts
  6. The final selection of a candidate for the award will be made by the Dean of Graduate Studies on behalf of the Senate Graduate Awards Adjudication Committee.
