Undergraduate Student Research Awards

The objectives of the Undergraduate Student Research Awards (USRA) programs are to encourage students to pursue graduate studies and then a research career in these fields.

The Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) provides SFU with approximately 58 USRAs per year. In addition, SFU's Vice-President, Research (VPR), will be supporting an approximately 58 additional undergraduate students who are working with faculty members who hold research grants (independent of source) through the VPR USRA program.

There are two VPR USRA programs; one for the Sciences and one for the Social Sciences and Humanities. Students can only apply to one of these programs per competition cycle. For more information on each of these programs, click the appropriate tab above.
