AAAS Award Winners to Appear in Science
Congratulations to SFU graduate students Laleh Samii (physics) and Benjamin Sandkam and Corey Watson (biology), whose winning posters will be highlighted in the prestigious Science journal.
Benjamin and Corey's poster was about why guppies have better colour vision than humans, and was named best in the environmental and ecology category
Laleh's poster showcased her development of experimental and numerical models for designing and constructing nanoscale molecular machines, and won in the physical science category.
Their entries were among 190 posters on display at the American Association for the Advancement of Science conference, which drew thousands of international scientists to the Vancouver Convention Centre in February.
SFU’s two winning posters were among seven SFU entries. "Even given the home court advantage," said Felix Breden, Chair of Biological Sciences, "it must be incredibly rare that two of the best student posters would come from the same institution."
