Macleans magazine's annual rankings of Canadian universities has just been released, and SFU's #1 again. It’s the fifth straight year we have held the top spot.

They say, "If there’s one trend in the rankings, it’s the rise of the west. Every university from Saskatchewan to the Pacific Ocean maintains or improves its standing. All four of British Columbia’s ranked universities placed in the top two in their categories."

The Comprehensive category description:

Comprehensive universities have a significant degree of research activity and a wide range of programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels, including professional degrees.

SFU has been placed as the top comprehensive university in Canada ten times since Maclean's started its rankings, 21 years ago. This is our fifth year in a row at the top position in our category.

The ranking is based on our high standing in a number of categories, including awards for faculty and students, student services and student/faculty ratios.

SFU's tuition fees are among the most reasonable of all its peers: International students in most graduate programs pay approximately $5,000 per year.
