All SFU graduate students are invited to attend an information session about Connect Canada and Mitacs.
Connect Canada supports research internships in natural science, engineering, economics, social sciences, health, environment, and ethics. Internships last from four to six months, during which time students are guided by their academic supervisor, who receives a stipend for their supervision. Graduate students at the master’s, PhD, or post-doctoral level are eligible to apply. Internships are funded by $5,000 from the company, which is matched by Connect Canada for a total stipend of $10,000 for the entire internship.
Mitacs-Accelerate is Canada’s premiere research internship program. It connects companies with over 50 research-based universities through graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, who apply their specialized expertise to business research challenges. Interns transfer their skills from theory to real-world application, while the companies gain a competitive advantage by accessing high-quality research expertise.
