  • Mitacs Step: November Workshops October 20, 2016

Want to gain some new professional skills this fall?

Mitacs is offering the following workshops at SFU, free to graduate students and postdoctoral fellows:

    Time Management - Online Workshop

If you find yourself frequently running out of time on a project or impending deadlines are making you anxious, this workshop is here to help. You'll learn how to make the most of every minute, avoid procrastination and other "time thieves", and create achievable plans and schedules, based on project management best practices.

This is an online workshop and the content can be accessed at any time during the workshop's start and end date, so you can work through it at your own pace. The estimated time needed to complete this workshop is approximately 5 - 6 hours.

    Scientific and Technical Writing Skills

This workshop will help bring your knowledge to life in the written realm. You will learn how to engage your readers with technical reports that are clearly organized and well written. It’s a chance to work on current writing pieces or re-examine past work with a valuable critique from the experts. This is a two-day workshop:

    • Wednesday, November 23 & Friday, November 25 from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
    • Location: Surrey, SUR 3040 (Wednesday) & SUR 2990 (Friday)
    • Register and more info here

All grad students and postdocs can attend any Mitacs session, held anywhere in BC. Check the Mitacs website for additional offerings.

As always, Mitacs sessions are at no cost but space is limited and seats go fast so sign up now! (The workshops are free if you show up, but you are charged $50 if you do not show up. See their registration information.)
