External Awards: CAGS/UMI Distinguished Dissertation Awards
The Canadian Association for Graduate Studies (CAGS) has opened nominations for the Distinguished Dissertation Awards for dissertations completed between January 1 and December 31, 2012.
The awards recognize doctoral students whose dissertations make an original contribution to their academic field. Two awards are offered each year: one in engineering, medical sciences and natural sciences; and one in fine arts, humanities and social sciences.
The award includes a $1,500 prize, a Citation Certificate, and travel expenses of up to $1,500 to attend the 2013 CAGS Annual Conference (Montréal, Québec).
There is an internal SFU nomination process for this award. If you qualify and would like to be nominated in your category, please contact your graduate supervisor and/or your graduate program assistant by early February, 2013. (Departments may set slightly different deadlines.)
The application deadline is April 2, 2013 for CAGS to receive SFU's nominations.
