The Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) is offering 60 Fellowships for North American and European pre- and post-doctoral researchers to conduct cooperative research in Japan.

The award value covers a round-trip ticket, a settling living allowance in the amount of ¥200,000 (approx US$32,500.00), overseas travel insurance coverage, and an additional ¥362,000 (approx US$59,000) for postdoctoral and ¥200,000 for doctoral fellows.

The duration of the award is 1 - 12 months, during 1 April 2014 - 31 March 2015.

Applications for this program must be submitted to JSPS by a host researcher in Japan through the head of the university or institution.

 Application deadline for each one of four recruitment periods (for host institution):

• 7-11 October 2013
  
• 6-10 January 2014
• 7-11 April 2014
• 7-11 July 2014
