Nominations are now open for the Nora and Ted Sterling Prize in Support of Controversy. The winner of the Sterling Prize receives a cash award of $5,000 and makes a public presentation at the Centre for Dialogue.

The Sterling Prize may be given for work in any field, and the primary aim of the Sterling Prize is to recognize and encourage daring, creative, controversial, unconventional and non-traditional work at Simon Fraser University that also meets high standards and is morally and ethically sound.

Graduate students are eligible for nomination, and in fact, an early winner of the Prize was master's student Russell Ogden, for his research on AIDS and euthanasia.

The Sterling Prize Committee would appreciate receiving notice of intention to nominate. If you’re planning to put together a nomination package, or would like to suggest an individual whose work merits consideration, please contact the committee at vpacad@sfu.ca.

The deadline for nominations is January 31, 2013.
