We’re proud of our alumni accomplishments. SFU’s aq magazine recently highlighted alumni who are changing the world.

1. Yuhe Tony Song (PhD’91) leads a group of scientists at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory who have developed an improved method of predicting the size and intensity of tsunamis. Song recently outlined the methodology in Popular Science.
2. Wahiba Chair (MBA’09) created CarrotLines, a mobile phone application that helps identify the content in food products so consumers can meet their nutritional and dietary needs. 
3. Dino Djalal (MA’91) is the new Indonesian ambassador to the United States. The rising star has been the spokesman for Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono since 2004.
4. Francisco Ibáñez-Carrasco (BA’90, MA’93, PhD’00) received the Canadian Working Group on HIV and Rehabilitation Award of Excellence for his exceptional leadership.
5. Oxford University professor Colin Macdonald (MSc’03, PhD’08) is the winner of the 2010 Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics Richard C. DiPrima Prize.
6. James Delgado (PhD’06) (Wikipedia) is leading an A-list of maritime scientists to virtually “raise” the Titanic.  The team of oceanographers and archaeologists are using underwater robots to take three-dimensional measurements and construct a view of the vessel.
7. Camilla Speller (MA ‘05, PhD ‘10) was awarded the Governor General’s gold medal, SFU’s highest graduate student honour, for her innovative work on the domestication of turkeys.
