We're sharing the contest entries from our Secret Spots & First Impressions grad student photo competition.

Photo 1: Moonrise Over Vancouver (taken in Kitsilano)
I find it relaxing to sit by the water and watch the city lights gradually take on all their significance. On this particular evening, the full moon decided to join the dance and shine its light.

Photo 2: Quiet from Above
The first impression I got from seeing Vancouver from the top of the Harbour Center was not the spectacular scenery. It was rather the unexpected opportunity of calmly observing patterns emerge from the hectic street life below.

I love the contrast of the changing colours of the sky and the towers, slowly lighting up as people return home at the end of the day. I enjoy reading in this park and although it's not a "secret spot", this photo captures my take on Vancouver framing of its sky.
