Graduate Student Photo Shoots

Would you like a personal portrait taken by SFU's professional photographer?

If your answer is yes, we would love to hear from you. We need photos of SFU graduate students for our departmental at-a-glance web pages and brochures. We'll also share them with your graduate programs, so your photo may also show up on your department's website (when that happens, most of our students send that link to their parents).

In return, we'll give you copies of all photos taken at your photo session.

We have two dates in SFU's photography studio on the Burnaby campus:

  • Wednesday, February 20, 10:30 am–12:30 pm
  • Thursday, February 28, 10:30 am–12:30 pm

NEW: Vancouver photo session will be on Friday, March 1, 2:30-3:45 pm. Sign up below and you'll get an email on Thursday with the confirmed photo shoot location. (We're consulting with grad programs on the best location.)

Please reserve your preferred time to let us know that you're interested. You're welcome to bring props for your photo, or pose without them. We'll also ask you for a few words about why you chose your graduate program or your favourite grad student experience so far, to go with your photo.

We would also like to get a few photos of groups of graduate students, and we can come to your labs or research groups. (And yes, your supervisors can be in those photos too, and yes, you can get copies of those photos for your research group's website.) If you'd like to book a group photo, please contact Gladys — we@sfu.ca — to make separate arrangements for the best timing and location.

If your graduate program is based at Surrey or Vancouver, we'll be working with Vancouver and Surrey grad programs to find out the best dates for their students — and you are very welcome to come to Burnaby to get your photo taken if you're available on those dates.
