We're sharing the contest entries from our Photos of Home grad student photo competition.

This photo is from Ryan Teraverst, Faculty of Health Sciences, who writes:

This photo was taken in December 2012 near Mar Lake on the Bruce Peninsula. To me, this photo represents the bleak yet serene beauty that is often undiscovered in Northern Ontario.

A lone figure, almost inseparable from the rocks emerging from the fresh snow, bridges the frozen lake and the tree line. Too often we remove ourselves from our wild roots, yet I believe moments like this unveil our inseparable and necessary linkage with nature.
