The Research Grants Facilitator supports the Associate Dean, Graduate Studies and Research, in developing and overseeing the Faculty of Education’s profile of external funding for research.

This includes seeking out and establishing contacts with funders and contractors; assisting in identifying and applying for research and contract funding from Canadian and international funding agencies, private foundations, industry, and federal and provincial ministries and offices; and analyzing the Faculty’s resources in order to develop plans aimed at improving opportunities for research funding and the likelihood of winning external research grants and contracts.

Examples of such funders include but are not limited to: SSHRC, NSERC, IDRC, CIHR, Canada Council, CFI, NATO, UN, World Bank, BC Knowledge Fund, various private foundations and government programs, and fellowship programs such as Fulbright and Killam.

The Research Grants Facilitator also assists in developing letters of intent and final applications by conducting interviews with researchers or research teams and preparing content based on information gathered.

The incumbent may represent the Associate Dean, Graduate Studies and Research, in dealings with other university units (e.g., the Advancement Office and the SFU International) regarding funding issues, and may, as appropriate, represent the University in dealings with external funders and organizations relating to research opportunities and funding.
