External Award: MITACS Globalink Research and Partnership Awards

Mitacs is pleased to present the Mitacs Globalink Research Award for undergraduate and graduate research at a university outside Canada and the Mitacs Globalink Partnership Award for graduate research in industry outside Canada.

These two exciting initiatives provide funding to support opportunities for graduate student research and training abroad. Open to all academic disciplines. Canadian citizens, Permanent Residents and International Students in Canada are eligible to apply.

The Globalink Research Award provides an opportunity for:

  • Senior undergraduate and graduate students to conduct innovative research at an accredited university in a Mitacs partner country for 12–24 weeks
  • New collaborations with academic researchers in Mitacs partner countries: Brazil, mainland China, India, Mexico, Turkey, and Vietnam
  • Up to $5000 for student travel and accommodation expenses provided to a Canadian supervisor

Applications are accepted at any time. Applicants should apply approximately 10–12 weeks prior to the start of the project to allow for adjudication, filing of appropriate documentation, and travel and accommodation arrangements.

Mitacs recommends applicants submit applications by June 13th for projects starting in September 2014.

The Globalink Partnership Award provides an opportunity for:

  • Graduate students at Mitacs full partner universities (including SFU) the opportunity to participate in a 16- to 24-week research project with an international industry partner located in one of the following Mitacs partner countries: Brazil, mainland China, India, Mexico, France*, Turkey and Vietnam. (*a limited number are available in France)
  • $15000 funding to cover the direct costs of research provided as a research grant to a Canadian supervisor
