Job Posting: Research Co-Ordinator Centre for Research on Early Child Health and Education

The Centre for Research on Early Child Health and Education at Simon Fraser University invites applications for a Research Co-Ordinator position in research related to child development and multilingualism. This is a SSHRC sponsored longitudinal study of executive functions, literacy and social competence in multilingual children. The anticipated start date is August 1 2014, or as arranged. The person in this position is assigned to work at the Centre for Research on Early Child Health and Education (CRECHE) at Simon Fraser University, located in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. 

Responsibilities – Manage the recruitment of children and families; scheduling of dates for data collection with community partners; scheduling times and phoning parents; arranging for bus transportation as part of data collection procedures; distribute, collect, and record responses from questionnaires for parents and teachers participating in the research; attend meetings with research team; including community partners. Oversee data collection that takes place one full day per week at an off-campus location. Work collaboratively with faculty and research assistants associated with CRECHE. The successful applicant for this position will focus on activities to maintain positive and strong relations with families who are participating in the research.

Qualifications – Earned, or in the process of completing a PhD in educational psychology, developmental psychology, school psychology, clinical psychology, linguistics, or a related field. We are interested in candidates who research in Child Development with an emphasis on languages, cognition, and context, and those who have strengths in one or more of the following areas: development in early childhood, multilingualism, cognition, methodology, children's health and well-being. 

The candidate should provide evidence of effective communication and interpersonal skills as well as a demonstrable commitment to engaging families in the research.

Salary – Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. The position requires approximately 15 hours per week as described, but could be expanded, depending on the research interests and availability of the successful applicant to contribute to research (data analysis and papers).
