Sociolinguistics study seeks second-generation Filipinos

Are you or do you know any second-generation Filipino-Canadians in Vancouver?

Pocholo Umbal, a master's student in Linguistics, is looking for participants for his study of how second-generation Filipino-Canadians use English in Vancouver.

Potential participants:

  • Filipino-Canadians
  • Either born here in Vancouver OR moved to Vancouver before the age of 10
  • Have Filipino parents
  • Raised in Vancouver
  • Between the ages of 19 and 30
  • Post-secondary education or working towards one

The interview session (which will be only audio-recorded) is approximately 1 hour long.Times are flexible. Participation in this study is completely voluntary and participants have the right to withdraw at any point if they wish.

Participants will receive a $10 Starbucks gift card.
