Canadian Northern Studies Trust Awards

The Canadian Northern Studies Trust is offering awards to students who are advancing knowledge and understanding of Canada's North with exceptional research.

The main criteria for all of the awards are:

  • Canadian citizen or permanent resident (sorry international folks!)
  • Enrolled in a full-time program at a Canadian university (except for post-doctoral applicants)
  • Have an aspect of northern or circumpolar fieldwork included as part of your research within the term of your award
  • Plus any additional, award-specific requirements that are included in the award outlines
Awards range from $1,500, all the way up to $50,000! Deadline is January 29, 2016, so review the descriptions and get applying!

  • Nominations Open for Sterling Prize in Support of Controversy December 13, 2017
    Nominations are now being accepted for the Nora and Ted Sterling Prize in Support of Controversy. The prize is awarded annually for work that presents new daring and creative ways of looking at the world. Submit nominations for consideration by February 15, 2018.
