The Cinema of Environmental Crisis

October 20, 2015
Print

Join SFU Woodward's and Dr. Anil Narine in examining 'eco-cinema', films that show the public the possible hazards of an environment gone awry. Do they inspire viewers to activate themselves in trying to save the world from destruction or do they shut us off and just become an ordinary movie, cut off from actual experiences of suffering?

This is a free event and everyone is welcome to join!

Date: Thursday October 29, 2015

Time: 7:00PM - 9:00PM

Location: Djavad Mowafaghian World Art Centre, Goldcorp Centre for the Arts, 149 West Hastings St.

Dr. Narine teaches cinema studies and communication at the University of Toronto and edited recent publication Eco-Trauma Cinema (2015).
