Postdoc Profile Writing Workshop

November 16, 2015

We'd like to invite all Postdoctoral Fellows at Simon Fraser University to have their own personal profile on our website.

There are benefits for having a profile:

  • You get to control what is said about you, and you can talk passionately about your work and research
  • You get to link to everything else about you — LinkedIn, Twitter, Google Scholar, ResearchGate, your own personal projects, your entrepreneurial efforts
  • Whenever we post a profile, it generally appears in the top-ten results in a search on the person's name within about 24 hours.
  • It's a great way to manage your web presence for future employers and funding agencies.

Postdoc Profile Writing Workshop
Thursday, December 3rd, 2-4pm
SFU Burnaby (Blusson Hall 9655)
Please register through MyInvolvement

In this workshop, we'll walk you through how to write about yourself, how to tell your research story and how to explain the importance of your work. The workshop will be offered in two parts. On December 3rd, you will learn how to begin writing your own profile. The second part of the workshop will be in January, when you can bring a draft of your profile in for feedback and revisions before it is posted online.

Want to see an example? Check out Emma Griffith's profile, that she wrote with a little guidance.
