Academic Career Search with Elizabeth Elle

Are you pursuing a career in academia? Looking for tips and guidance on how to set yourself apart?

Dr. Elizabeth Elle, Professor and Chair of Biological Sciences, will share the inside scoop of the academic hiring process. Dr. Elle has been on search committees for assistant professors, lecturers, research chairs, sessionals, and even a Dean and a VP, and now chairs hiring committees. She'll share tips, best practices and pitfalls on:

  • putting together the application itself 
  • managing your letters of reference
  • how to make a good impression in the interview. 

Dr. Elle will share her advice and then open the floor to Q&A from participants. Please bring your questions! 

This session is offered in partnership by the Society for Canadian Women in Science and Technology, the SFU Postdoctoral Fellows Association, and the APEX Professional Development Program with the Office of Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Fellows.
