SFU Aboriginal Community Engagement Award

Aboriginal students are eligible to apply for SFU's Aboriginal Community Engagement Award of $2,000 per term; up to $5,000 annually.

  • Requirements: CGPA 2.00 undergrad or CGPA 3.00 grad
  • Program Code: UUAO120

This award is open to full-time undergraduate and graduate Aboriginal students attending SFU. Undergraduate students must have completed at least 24 units at the University in order to be eligible. Students must be in good academic standing and also have demonstrated excellence in one or more of: service to the University, community service, cultural contribution and overcoming personal or systemic barriers. Preference will be given to students who have a connection to an Aboriginal community. Documentation supporting the student’s community connection, service and volunteer activities shall be submitted to Financial Aid and Awards.

If you are interested, please apply online through the Student Information System (sis.sfu.ca). Click on 'Student Centre'. Click on 'Apply for 'Scholarships/Awards'. The application and any supporting documentation deadline is Friday, September 16, 2016.

Aboriginal students may be eligible for other SFU financial aid and award opportunities as well (other SFU scholarships, awards, and bursaries). The application deadline for SFU bursaries for the Fall 2016 term is also Friday, September 16, 2016. Please visit our website at http://www.sfu.ca/students/financialaid for more information.
