Job Posting: Part-time RA for the Centre for Applied Research in Mental Health and Addiction

The Centre for Applied Research in Mental Health and Addiction (CARMHA) is currently recruiting for a part-time graduate student Research Assistant for the Mental Health in Adults and Children-Frugal Innovations (MAC-FI) project.

The MAC-FI project is a 3-year study, funded by Grand Challenges Canada, which is testing and scaling up a Supportive Self-Management intervention for depression in Vietnam. Working with the Institute of Population, Health and Development in Hanoi and the Government of Vietnam, this initiative is contributing to the development of the mental health system in Vietnam, filling a gap in treatment for common mental disorders. 

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the preparation and submission of a CIHR project grant, to be submitted in September 2017
  • Coordination and support to data analysis team, including the Data Management Committee
  • Support with the preparation and submission of manuscripts for publication
  • Support with the development and submission and renewal of ethics applications
  • Preparation and collaboration on literature reviews and study protocols as needed  
  • Preparation of reports to our funder and other project outputs as needed 

Requirements:

  • Current graduate student in health or social sciences
  • Passionate and committed to contributing to the field of global health and/or mental health and addictions research
  • Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Demonstrated understanding of both qualitative and quantitative research methods and principles and experience contributing to detailed literature reviews
  • Effective at time management and excellent organizational skills
  • Trustworthy and works well independently and as a part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Good problem solving skills but willing to ask for advice and support when needed 
This is a six-month part-time contract with option to renew. It averages 10 hours per week at $20 an hour.
