Internal Award: Aboriginal Community Engagement Award

The SFU Financial Aid and Awards office is currently accepting applications for the Aboriginal Community Engagement Award. This award, valued at a maximum of $5000 per year, is available to full-time undergraduate and graduate Aboriginal students attending Simon Fraser University.

In order to be eligible, applicants must:

  • have a demonstrated connection to the Aboriginal community 
  • be in good academic standing
  • have demonstrated excellence in community service and/or cultural contributions to the University, Aboriginal and/or general community at large

To apply, submit a resume outlining your community service and/or cultural contributions, a one-page cover letter as outlined on the Award Page, and one or more letter(s) of reference to Financial Aid and Awards (faawards@sfu.ca) by Friday, September 15, 2017.

If you wish to meet with a Financial Aid and Awards advisor, you can do so at drop in advising. An advisor will also  be available for consultation once a month at the Indigenous Student Centre (ISC) on Thursdays from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm - September 14, October 12, November 9 and December 7.

  • Nominations Open for Sterling Prize in Support of Controversy December 13, 2017
    Nominations are now being accepted for the Nora and Ted Sterling Prize in Support of Controversy. The prize is awarded annually for work that presents new daring and creative ways of looking at the world. Submit nominations for consideration by February 15, 2018.
