The SFU Refugee and Newcomer Advisory Committee (RNAC) is offering the following research grants, subject to proposal approval:

Graduate Student Research Grant

RNAC is offering two grants of up to $10,000 to support graduate student dissertation or thesis research. The proposed research should focus on a topic related to refugees migration and related newcomer issues. Projects may focus on Canada, another country, area or region, or they may be transnational in scope. Deadline on July 31, 2018.

Eligibility:

This grant is open to all SFU PhD and MA students in good standing; students with personal immigration experience are encouraged to apply. PhD students should have finished all coursework and requirements other than the dissertation. Both PhD and MA students should have their thesis proposal approved, or have the approval process scheduled before August 31, 2018.

Expectations:

By the end of September 2019, write a summary of funding spent. Present the research at a public workshop, conference or SFU event.
