Left, in collaboration with Mitacs, is offering 16 post graduate positions, alongside co-op positions, over the next 3 years.

PhD Research
The following three-year funded PhD Research Projects in Mobile Mesh Networking Evaluation are available (start dates ranging between January 1, 2019 and September 1, 2019). The projects will remain open until appropriate candidates are identified, pending funding. Given the nature of this research program, the projects listed are subject to change. 

Unit: School of Computer Science

  • Winter: October 1st
  • Summer: February 1st
  • Fall: June 1st

PhD Requirements

  • The successful applicant must hold an MSc in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or similar or should expect to hold an MSc in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or similar by January 1, 2019.
  • The successful applicant must be able to travel within Canada, as they will be required to spend 50% of their time in Maple Ridge, British Columbia working on-site at the offices of Left, and 50% of their time on campus at the University of Guelph.

PhD Projects Available

The following PhD research projects are currently available. The goal is to fill two of these positions each semester for the next three semesters:

  • Device Density
  • Switching Optimization
  • Routing Optimization 
  • Traffic Balance Optimization
  • Data Mining Best Practices
  • Engagement Using Competition

Postdoctoral Research 
The following two-year industry-sponsored Postdoctoral Fellowship in Mobile Mesh Networking Evaluation is available immediately. The position will remain open until an appropriate candidate is identified.

Contract Type: Temporary Full Time

Post-Doctoral Fellow Requirements

  • The successful applicant must hold a PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or similar or should expect to hold a PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or similar by January 1, 2019.
