First Nations Students

Visit the Indigenous Student Centre in room 1500 at the Maggie Benston building.

The Centre offers a regular Wednesday lunchtime gathering and other social events. Their website will also connect you to a wide range of financial support options, including Aboriginal scholarships, bursaries and awards.

Students with Disabilities

The Centre for Students with Disabilities provides information and assistance and ensures accessible campus services for students with disabilities. See also SFU Policy GP 26: Accessibility for Students with Disabilities.

SFU Library

The SFU Library has many useful resources for graduate students, including a comprehensive guide to preparing and submitting your thesis. In addition, their librarians maintain subject-based research guides which list new library resources in your field.

SFU Bookstore

The SFU Bookstore stocks all of the official coursebooks at the campus where the class is being offered. Books are often in stock before the term starts, so consider coming to campus early to see if your books are in and save yourself from the first week lineups.

The bookstore also sells computers and software at educational prices.

SFU's Health and Counselling Centre offers a wide range of services to maintain your physical and mental health, from health clinics to vaccinations to physiotherapy.

SFU's Student Learning Commons offers workshops, consultations, and other services specifically tailored for graduate students, including a Read Ahead Service which provides in-depth feedback on your academic writing.

Graduate Student Society

Your Graduate Student Society offers a number of services, from the Health and Dental Benefit plan to a graduate student lounge and boardroom.

Teaching and Learning Centre

The Teaching and Learning Centre offers many useful professional development workshops for graduate students and faculty members, including teaching, grant-writing, and doing presentations. Most are free.

Campus Security

SFU's Campus Security office offers services including keys, parking, a safewalk program and a list of safety tips. They note that the largest percentage of security incidents on campus is theft.
