How do you set out to analyze and capitalize on the vast stores of data housed in applications such as social networks, network security informatics, healthcare informatics, business intelligence, and web searches?

This lecture provides an overview of the basic concepts and processes of data science to graduate students in other disciplines.

Principles of data engineering and data science are set out, with selected topics such as multidimensional analysis, pattern association, classification, clustering and outlier detection.
