Geography Information for TAs / TMs / Sessionals

Following is a list of courses requiring Teaching Assistantsπ. TAs/TMs must be available from the start of the semester and until final grades have been submitted. Hiring priority will be determined as per Article XIIIF3a i through IV of TSSU's collective agreement  The Department's TA Hiring Priorities are posted on the TSSU notice board outside RCB-7232.  New graduate students should consult with their faculty advisors before submitting their applications.

A full TAship (5.17 BUs) comprises 4 x 1 hr. tutorials, or 3 x 2 hr. labs or tutorials.  TAs in Writing-Intensive (W) courses teach 2 x 2 hr. TUTs for 5.17 BUs (to compensate for the additional marking).

SESSIONAL INSTRUCTOR POSITIONS – Fall TERM 2013

The Department of Geography seeks Sessional Instructors (September – December 2013) for the following:

GEOG 100 Surrey   Society, Space, Environment: Introducing Human Geography
Tentative schedule: LEC Wednesdays 16:30-18:20 (max. enrollment 75) and TM supervision; 3 contact hours

GEOG 213                Introduction to Geomorphology
Tentative schedule: LEC Thursdays 12:30-14:20 (max. enrollment 72) TA supervision.  Plus 1x2 hour Labs; 4 contact hours

GEOG 412 W           Glacial Processes and Environments
Tentative schedule: LEC Fridays 10:30-12:20 (max. enrollment 18)
2x2 hour Lab; 4 contact hours


Qualifications: A graduate degree; preferably a Ph.D.
