Teaching Assistant Positions

Departmental guidelines for TAships are posted on the Biological Sciences Graduate Studies Notice Board. Faculty may apply for new students.

TA duties and scheduled hours will vary from course to course.  All classes are held at the Burnaby campus unless otherwise indicated.  If you are taking courses or have other restrictions on your time, please contact the course instructor to ensure you understand the requirements of the TAship.

ALL applicants MUST e-mail a statement of interest, contact information and CV to each course instructor by the closing date of 4pm, Wednesday, July 10th.   For courses without a named instructor, please contact the Associate Chair, Dr. R. Ydenberg (ydenberg@sfu.ca).  Individual instructors may require an interview via telephone, email and/or in person in order to assess your qualifications to TA the course.  Course instructors will receive a list of the applicants interested in TAing their course and will rank the applicants based on their qualifications.  Failure to send an e-mail containing a statement of interest, CV and contact information to the instructor prior to the closing date will negatively impact your chances of getting a TAship and could result in your application not receiving further consideration.

We thank all applicants for their interest, however, only successful applicants will be contacted. We will notify TAs by August 1st.

Before going to the form, you should have chosen the courses from the list below that you feel you are capable of TAing. You will be asked to rank them from 1-4 in order of preference. If you are a graduate student, you must receive your Senior Supervisor's approval to apply to TA these courses. You should also have your SFU ID (student) number handy as well as information on any scholarships or awards for which you have applied or which you will receive for the upcoming semester.

You will need an SFU email account to access the application- if you are a new student or outside applicant, please e-mail Marlene Nguyen for access.

If you receive an error message please contact bio-computing@sfu.ca.

Online application must be submitted before the closing date (see above). Contracts for the semester will run from August 26 - December 20, 2013.
