Final Steps

Acceptance

According to Policy R50.03:

  • “The PDF will indicate acceptance of the appointment/invitation in writing by returning a signed copy of the Appointment/Invitation Letter.” (SFU Postdoctoral Fellows Policy, R50.03)

Finalization

All PDFs are required to fill out the SFU Postdoctoral Registration Form. All Letters of Appointment/Invitation plus the registration form should be emailed to the Office of Graduate Studies & Postdoctoral Fellows.

According to Policy R50.03:

  • For all PDFs, the PDF and the Faculty Supervisor shall complete the SFU Postdoctoral Fellow Registration Form (see Appendix A) and submit it to the Chair of the appropriate Department for approval. The completed, approved form must be submitted to the Office of the Dean of Graduate Studies for registration of the appointment; this will enable the PDF to gain access to a variety of University services.

To summarize, all PDFs must complete the SFU Postdoctoral Fellow Registration Form and email it to:  postdoc@sfu.ca. Postdoctoral registration and inquiries is managed in the Office of Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Fellows.

Registration brings with it certain benefits (eligibility for library privileges, an SFU email address, and access to recreational facilities). It also allows our office to advocate on behalf of PDFs for certain service, and to communicate with the PDF community at SFU.
