Resources > Spin-off ProjectsImagine BC has inspired a number of independent projects: Green is the New Black – Undergraduate Semester in DialogueOn June 15th, 2006, the students in the 2006 Summer Undergraduate Semester in Dialogue, in collaboration with Imagine BC and the Roundhouse Centre, held a one-day dialogue exploring our shared responsibility for creating a sustainable future for the province of British Columbia. The students based the day around the theme of sustainability and the slogan “Green is the New Black.” They conceived that sustainability could be made into something cool and important to young and old across the province through dialogue, imagination and the arts. Various local artists, activists and musicians participated in the day’s activities. Among them were Cease Weiss, Spencer Herbert, Daniel Sanchez, Titziana La Melia and the dance troupe BC Clettes. Urban-Rural Planning Dialogue Session – Planners for Tomorrow 2006 After attending the 2006 Imagine BC Public Dialogue, students from SFU’s Masters in Resource and Environmental Management Program hosted a mock community consultation planning seminar. They devised a scenario in which students would represent diverse community interests at a dialogue where the purpose was to design a detailed plan for a solid waste management facility. They encouraged creative solutions and emphasized curiosity, humility, understanding and generosity in order to cultivate dialogue and manage conflicting interests. Game instructions and role descriptions are summarized here. A map used for game purposes was the focus for discussions used in the game. |
