On-Site Registration

Pick up of registration material will be available at the ice breaker Sunday evening from 5:50 to approximately 11 PM at the student pub (Maggie Benston Building).

On-site registration will be available outside Rm ASSC 10081 on Monday Morning from 7:30 – 10 AM and from 8 to 10 AM on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

All pre and post-conference field trips depart from Simon Fraser University 's Burnaby campus. Registration for the conference is required to attend the pre and post-conference fieldtrips. The TCN Short Course will be held in the IRMACS theatre on the Burnaby campus.


Pre-Conference Events


Pre-conference Field Trip: April 29-May 2 (Limit: 18)

Cordilleran ice sheet dynamics and decay, and postglacial landscape adjustment in southern interior British Columbia

Registration deadline for the pre-conference field trip is March 18th. Conference participants that wish to register after this deadline has passed may contact Tracy Brennand or Olav Lian to see if there is still room available.

Cost: $615; includes transportation, double occupancy accommodation, snacks and dinner on day 1, and breakfast on day 2.


TCN Shortcourse: Sunday, May 3 (Limit: 50)

Applications of Terrestrial Cosmogenic Nuclides to Quaternary Studies

Cost: $25; includes course notes, CD with course notes and coffee.


Conference Fees


Regular and student fees include CANQUA membership, Sunday ice-breaker, Tuesday banquet, coffee breaks and the mid-conference field trip.

Mid-Conference Field Trips

Conference registrants are asked to rank their choices, from 1 to 5, on the registration form.


A. Landslide hazards along the Sea-to-Sky Highway

B. Late Quaternary stratigraphy, paleoecology, and glacial geology of southwestern British Columbia : examples from lower Seymour and Lynn valleys

C. Marine and glacio-marine geology of Bowen Island and nearby Howe Sound: insights into paraglacial sedimentation in the marine environment

D. Morphology and dynamics of the lower Fraser River and delta

E. Environmental geology, natural hazards and urban development: the case of North and West Vancouver


One Day Fees

Daily fees are available for those registrants who are only able to attend the meeting for one day (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday). The daily fee does not include CANQUA membership, admission to the Sunday Ice-Breaker or the Tuesday banquet. It does include access to that day's sessions and coffee breaks.


Regular One Day:

Student One Day:

• Early (before March 18 th ): $65

• Late (after March 18 th ): $80


Guest Ticket(s) for Banquet, Tuesday night, May 5th: $70

The conference banquet will be held at the Diamond University Centre. Tickets are sold at cost.


Post Conference Fieldtrip - Channeled Scablands – May 8-11 (Limit 40)

Registration required by March 18 for organizers to confirm the number is sufficient to run the trip. Registration will be accepted after that date until April 17 if the trip is not canceled.

• $575 Single Occupancy

Costs Include: Bus transportation, accommodation, breakfast, lunch and snacks. The field trip departs on Friday afternoon at the end of the conference.

Cancellations and Refunds

Full refunds, less a $30 CAD administration fee will be granted to cancellations received by Friday, April 17, 2009 . No refunds will be issued after that date. Refunds will be mailed after the conference and will not be given to no-shows.

If you register on-line and pay by credit card, you will receive immediate confirmation via our server.



If you pay on-line by email transaction, please print out your receipt as this will be the original copy . If you pay by Canadian cheque or bank draft, your receipt will be mailed to the address shown on your completed registration form.


Participant List Deadline

The participant list will show the names of attendees whose registrations are received by Conference Services on or before Friday, April 17, 2009. Although every effort is made to ensure accuracy, Conference Services cannot be held responsible for errors and/or omissions. The list will contain your name, organization's mailing address, and email address.
