Bob Gilbert (at back) leading percussion coring work in Kuanerssuit Fiord Greenland Robert (Bob) Gilbert is formally retiring on June 30, 2009 from the Department of Geography at Queen's University. Bob has had a long and distinguished career that has made major contributions to many aspects to Quaternary Studies. His work has generated primary knowledge in sedimentary processes and records in lakes and fiords, linking acoustic sedimentary sequences with process and sedimentary records, glacial geomorphology, and limnology, based on extensive fieldwork from all over Canada , Greenland and the Antarctic. The diversity of his work has left an important legacy to Canadian and International Quaternary Studies through this work and his collaboration and training of a diverse range of students and researchers. This session will bring together friends and colleagues to celebrate this momentous event.
