If you are applying from outside Canada you are advised to contact your nearest Canadian Embassy or Consulate concerning requirements for study in Canada. You should contact these resources before you receive your offer of admission from SFU, as some Consulates impose early deadlines on processing applications.
English is the language of instruction and communication at Simon Fraser University. If your primary language is not English or your previous education has been conducted in another language, you must demonstrate a command of English sufficient to pursue graduate studies in your chosen field.
Normally, you must achieve a satisfactory score on a standardized English test acceptable to the University, and must include a written component. The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) combined with the Test of Written English (TWE) generally fulfills this requirement.
