Research Interests

Dr. Mustard's research focuses on the evolution and tectonic setting of sedimentary basins of the Canadian Cordillera. His background as a clastic sedimentologist and experience in geologic mapping, and field-oriented sedimentology compliments these interests. Current projects involve the geology of Cretaceous sedimentary rocks of the Nanaimo Group on the islands of the Strait of Georgia and on eastern Vancouver Island and regional mapping and sedimentology projects related to the Mesozoic Bowser, Sustat and Skeena basins of north-central British Columbia. Dr. Mustard is interested in supporting graduate students who wish to pursue sedimentologic field-related studies. He has several potential graduate student projects involving stratigraphic and sedimentologic studies of sedimentary basins within the Canadian Cordillera, in general supported by geologic mapping. Students who have, or are interested in learning, computer skills in G.I.S. or database applications would be an asset for many of these types of studies.
