SFU economics professor Dr. Jasmina Arifovic receives Dean’s Medal for Academic Excellence for 2018

The Department of Economics is delighted to announce that SFU economics professor, Dr. Jasmina Arifovic, is one of the recipients of this year’s Dean’s Medal for Academic Excellence.

This award recognizes tenured and tenure-track faculty for academic excellence in research, teaching, and service. Up to three medals are awarded annually. Award winners will receive a medal of recognition as well as a $1,000 research stipend.

Professor Arifovic started teaching at SFU in 1993 after a three-year period as an assistant professor at McGill University. Her career in economics has so far included visiting appointments at Caltech, the University of Southern California, the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, Chapman University, and the European Central Bank, among many others.

Professor Arifovic specializes in macroeconomics, monetary theory, and learning and adaptation in economics. As director of the Centre for Research in Adaptive Behaviour in Economics (CRABE) at the SFU Department of Economics, Professor Arifovic regularly conducts research in experimental economics.

She has published numerous works on learning and economics.

Along with all dean’s medal recipients, Professor Arifovic will be honoured at the FASS Autumn Reception on October 11, 2018.
