Introduction

For each set of assigned readings, you will write a reading response. A reading guide for each set of readings is provided to focus your response and prepare you for class discussion.

  • There are 3 reading responses, each worth 5 points. The points are assigned according to the rubric below.
  • Please answer all the questions in the reading guide in your response.
  • Responses should be no more than 2-3 pages long if written in a Times 12-point font and double-spaced
  • All responses must be submitted via email (bell@sfu.ca) by midnight on the day they are due.

Evaluation Rubric
5 points Answers are complete, well written, coherent, reflect a deep understanding of the readings, and express unique ideas and insights not offered by most of the class.
4 points Answers are well written and coherent, show evidence of having read the text carefully, and understood it fully. They address all components of the questions posed in a clear and intelligible way.
3 points Answers are clearly written and address all components of the questions, but some answers are superficial, confused or reflect a hasty, incomplete or confused reading of the text.
2 points Answers are incomplete, somewhat difficult to comprehend, or reflect a hasty reading of the text.
1 point Answers attempt to address the questions in some way, but some do not make use of any specific knowledge gained from the text, and may be made up.
0 points Nothing is submitted, or questions are not answered at all, or answers are incomprehensible.
