Theater and Teaching – Possible's Slow Fuse Dialogue Series with Kevin O’Neill

Session 2 of the Possible’s Slow Fuse dialogue series was another full house as Dr. Kevin O’Neill led an interactive dialogue on the often-used analogy between theater and teaching. It was an amazing turnout, with cross-Faculty representation. Kevin explained that the idea for the session came from reflecting on how pre-recorded learning materials may have the benefit of being accessible anywhere and anytime, students may not be inspired to work through them and persist when they find them challenging. From the Ground Up Seminar Series: Onjibaa: She Comes From a Certain Place, a Presentation by Dr. Alanaise Onizichin Goodwill

Dr. Goodwill is one of very few Indigenous Registered Psychologists in British Columbia, and practices active counselling service within several Indigenous communities. Her scholarship aims to decolonize mental health practices by addressing serious manifestations of colonial violence such as gangs and gender-based violence. Read more

SFU/SSHRC Small Research Grants – Spring Intake

Deadline:
FoE internal: First week of May, 2019
SFU: June 1, 2019
Award: $7,000 – $10,000 CAD

SFU Institutional Grants (SSHRC Small) support scholarly research in the contemporary arts, humanities and social sciences for expenses up to a maximum of $7,000. Part I was focused on grant–writing strategies and tips, budget development, and knowledge mobilization planning; Part II will focus on peer review of each other’s summary pages. Participants will be asked to prepare a summary page prior to Part II.
