Research Interests

The focus of my research is adolescent and family mental health, with the broad aim of enhancing fit between research and practice settings. Founationally, my concentration was family-based treatment for adolescent eating disorders, where I investigated parent actions and processes while they were engaged in the treatment. I have extended on this work by exploring how cross-cultural youth-counsellor dyads engage in the most curative element of common to any counselling treatment: the therapeutic relationship. Finally, in partnership with colleges and educational professionals, we are exploring the ways in which school-based career interventions may confer a positive influence on adolescent mental health.
