Program Development

  • Proposed with Dr. Heeson Bai, Charles Scott, and Laurie Anderson an EdD focused on "Contemplative Inquiry for Professional Constitutencies". (2017)
  • Academic coordinator of the Health Education and Active Living (HEAL) Masters of Education (2011–present)
  • Designed the C&I M.Ed in Health Education and Active Living which was approved by the Graduate Programs Committee for implementation in 2011-3. (2010)
  • Academic coordinator of the PhD program in Curriculum Theory and Implementation (2009–present)
  • Director of Professional Programs with oversight of all pre-service teacher education programs in the Faculty of Education.  Developed the Professional Linking Program (PLP) out of the PTEM for not only special education assistant, but also adult educators, aboriginal support workers and teachers of French on letters of teaching permission granted by the BC College of Teachers (2007–2010)
  • Designed with Dr. Sandy Vamos and Dr. Celeste Snowber the C&I MA/M.Ed program in Health Education and Physical Activity, approved by the Graduate Programs Committee for implementation in 2007-3 (2005–2006)
  • Director of Professional Programs with oversight of program developments involving: lower mainland modules, the North West Teacher Education Consortium, the Alaska Highway Teacher Education Consortium, programming with Nisga’a, Sto:lo and Kamloops First Nations, International PDP modules in Oaxaca, Mexico, Port of Spain, Trinidad, and PDP placements in Australia, England, Malaysia and China, and French program initiatives. Developed the PDP program partnership with the University College of the Fraser Valley, the Professional Qualification Program (PQP) for immigrant teachers, the Paraprofessional Teacher Education Module (PTEM) for special education assistants, and instigated the Surrey campus PDP programming (1997–2004)
  • Designed and taught with Prof. Meguido Zola the C&I Child Studies M.Ed. which incorporated the International Summer Institute on Child Studies (1998-2).  I was  Faculty Site Sponsor and program developer of 3 other M.Ed. External C&I programs (1997–1999)
  • Faculty site sponsor, course instructor and program developer for off-campus M.Ed. programs delivered in Prince George, Nanaimo, Kamloops (2 intakes) and Kelowna (1994–1998)
  • Designed with Drs Tom O'Shea and Alan Mackinnon, and Deans Jaap Tuinman and Robin Barrow the B.Ed. degree program in the Faculty of Education at Simon Fraser University.  This program has been implemented in part by the Faculty (1990–1992)
  • Developed with Mr. Craig Asmundson, UCC Chairperson, School of Kinesiology and Mr. Tony Leyland, Lecturer, School of Kinesiology, the Health and Physical Education Specialist Program which has been approved by the Undergraduate Program and Professional Programs committees of the Faculty of Education (1990–1992)

Workshops

  • Conducted numerous professional development workshops for Faculty Associates seconded to the Faculty of Education, Simon Fraser University: workshops lead at PDP campus conferences, PDP external site conferences and PDP August retreats (1988–present)
  • Organized and taught PDP (PE) workshops with Ms. Mary Tomlinson and Ms. Tammy Wirick outside the regular instructional time and, since 1988, conducted PDP workshops at the invitation of Faculty Associates working in the PDP (1988–present)
