Funding Opportunity for PhD, MA and M.Sc. Students - Conference Funding

The purpose of the Faculty of Education, Graduate Programs' Graduate Student Conference Travel fund is to support travel for thesis-based Master and PhD students presenting research papers/posters at academic conferences.

Eligibility

  • registered in an Education MA, M.Ed., M.Sc. or PhD program and in good standing (not on-leave or on an extension or readmission).
  • Community Graduate EdD and M.Ed. students are not eligible. (See Awards for Community Graduate Students below) 
  • funds up to $400 will normally be provided for travel for presentation of a research paper for two academic conferences or $800 for one academic conference per student per fiscal year (April 1 - March 31)
  • Funds up to $400 will normally be provided for travel for one poster presentation at an academic conference per student per fiscal year (April 1 - March 31)

Application Process

  • Download and read the Terms of Reference and complete the Application for Conference Funding.
  • Submit with your application:
        a) copy of letter of acceptance from conference organizer
        b) supervisor recommendation

Conference Travel Funding Award for Community Graduate Students (M.Ed. and EdD)

The purpose of the Faculty of Education, Community Graduate Programs’ Graduate Student Conference Travel funding is to support travel for Community M.Ed. and EdD students presenting research papers or posters at academic conferences.

Eligibility

  • registered in Community Graduate M.Ed. or EdD cohort program and in good standing (not on-leave or on an extension of time limit) 
  • funds up to $400 may be provided by the Faculty of Education, Community Graduate Programs for travel for presentation of a research paper or poster at one non-local academic conference per fiscal year (April 1 - March 31). 
  • funding is contingent on the availability of funds

Community Graduate M.Ed. and EdD students only can apply for this Conference Travel Award.

Please ensure you read the terms of reference on page 2 of this document.
  • Application is made by completing the application form in full and must include:
  1. A brief description of the work to be done, paper or poster to present, and its relevance to the student's program;
  2. A brief budget showing anticipated travel expenses and all sources of funding applied for or received, including research grant contributions;
  3. The original letter or email from the conference organization confirming the conference presentation;
  4. Recommendation of Senior Supervisor or Faculty Sponsor.
